under 9s west sussex champions! (March 19, 2007) Pulborough and Horsham - Joint West Sussex Champions
at Chichester 18 March 07
In the first pool match Pulborough defeated Horsham with a well crafted try from Gregor Ramage. Pulborough then went on to beat Midhurst with tries scored by Hector Monro and Marcus Ramage. This was followed by a very close match against the hosts Chichester won by a classic forward try by Oscar Clarke. This saw Pulborough emerge as undefeated winners of Pool B.
The semi final against Worthing was another close run thing with the Pulborough defence being the deciding factor in a 1 try to nil victory. The final saw Pulborough pitted against Horsham for the second time in the tournament. The 1st half saw magnificient Pulborough defence turning over the ball within a foot of the line. The 2nd half saw some great attacking play which was met with fierce resistance by Horsham. The final result was a scoreless draw, which under the tournament rules, saw both teams declared as joint West Sussex Champions. This is a remarkable achievement for Pulborough as it is the second year running that this team have won the West Sussex Championships.
A flip of the coin gives Horsham the honour of facing the East Sussex Champions in the Sussex Championship.
